Nathion Joiner Jr.

Obituary: Services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oddfellow Cemetery. On November 20, 1951, God released a radiant angel, Nathion Joiner Jr. to the late Mary Kate Joiner and Dudley Roby, Jr. in Macon, MS. Nathion confessed his faith in Christ very early in life, and he continued to believe and put faith in God. He would always say, “Don’t worry about anything, God will work it out.” Nathion played different roles in a lot of people's lives. He was a father figure and role model to so many people within the community. He was known as (Wolf, Sunshine, Son, Nate). He has the biggest smile, and would tell a joke and make you laugh any time of the day. You could hear him a mile away. He was a loving husband to his wife, Teresa A. Joiner celebrating 23 years of marriage prior to his death. Teresa and Nathion were together for 35 years, and were inseparable. Teresa and Nathion joined hand in marriage on December 25, 1998. Everyone who knows Son knows that he loved keeping the maintenance on his yard. Nathion was a hardworking man, and he took pride in building on his property to leave a legacy for his immediate family. He always maintained work. He started working at the age of 12 at grocery store, Big Star. He worked at Barge Forrest for 15 years, and he was retired up until death. Nathion was an amazing father and left behind six children: Sharon Bradford of Austrell, GA, Cierra (Antoine) Boddie of Hattiesburg, MS, Christopher (Rebecca) Joiner, Jennifer Joiner, Andrea Joiner all of Macon, MS, and Lamarcus aka Scooter (Yulonda)Watt of Detroit, MI. Nathion leaves behind several siblings on the maternal (Joiner’s) and paternal (Roby’s)side of the family: Maternal- Brenda (Bircy) Donald, Polly Brown, Judy Joiner all of Columbus, MS and Linda Joiner of Birmingham, AL. Paternal-Brothers: Donnie (Mary) Roby of Macon, MS, Randy (Reba) Roby of Brooksville, MS, Raymond Roby of Atlanta, GA, Lonnie (Miranda Daily of Elk Grove, CA, Bobby (Lillian) DAily of Oxon Hill, MD. Sisters: Dudley Ann (Leroy) Robinson of Macon, MS, Bonita Roby of East St. Louis, IL, Margie (Eddie C) Jones of Columbus, MS, Ethel (Kermit) Shelton of Crawford, MS, Shelia (Raymond) Roby Alexander of BIloxi, MS, Vernette (JC) Harris, Gennette (Jim) Stewart, and Linda (William) Adams Brooks all of Columbus, MS. Siblings who preceded him in death: Mary Carolyn Joiner McGee, Nancy M. Joiner Steens, Sharon Joiner, Willie Davis, Billy Roby, Shirley Roby, Maxine Roby Lowery, Annie Earl O’Neal, and Al Curtis Daily. Nathion had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was a father to many that will forever love him.
