Mr. Curtis Dixon Jr

Curtis Dixon Jr, born August 18, 1956, a native of Columbus Mississippi, born to the loving parents of the late Curtis Dixon Sr., and the Late Lillie Mae Dixon. Curtis transition from his earthly life on March 20,2025. He faithfully gave his life to Christ at the age of ten and was baptized as a full member of Saint James United Methodist Church in Columbus, Mississippi. He later finished high school at SD Lee, where he played in the school’s band as a drummer. He went on to be accepted in college at Jackson State University (JSU), and later he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Savannah, Georgia. He later returned to Mississippi and attended Mary Holmes College in West Point, Mississippi, where he met his wife of 45 years and 10 months to this day, Linda Faye Rice. In a loving ceremony on a summer’s day, Linda Rice took on Curtis ‘s name on June 16, 1979, becoming Mrs. Linda Faye Dixon. In this great union, they shared three children, Kitsy Marie, Spanish Fort, Alabama; Curby Lynn, Gulfport Mississippi; and Joshua Isaiah, Petal Mississippi. As a family, they loved traveling and spending lots of time together. Even after the children grew older and went their separate ways, they continued this ritual of exploring the world as a family over 6 times a year where they enjoyed bonding over family time. Curtis was fun and well loved by everyone. Whenever he met children in and out of state, they would come out of nowhere, walk up to him to just play with him or extend their hand to shake his. That’s the kind of love and kindness he radiated. On many occasions, people would walk up to him in restaurants and say, “Hey Sir, I paid for your lunch,” and then tell him, “You just look like a kind man.” Curtis would always return this kind of act forward by helping others who were lost, hurt, or in need of a meal. In many instances, and for no reason at all, strangers would come up to him and ask, “Do I know you; you look so familiar?” The answer was always no but would start conversations that you couldn’t pull him away from. These moments spoke to the comforting and humble presence he carried about himself. Curtis was like a magnifier of people, as he always carried a loving light for others. He drew people to him through the love he carried with him every day, and everywhere he went. As his wife, his greatest thought of me, was to always want me to be happy, and his sense of humor was always the remedy for my happiness. Our compassion through it all was unconditional love and forgiveness, which was always the healing balm for the interruption of unforeseen heartaches and pain. Truly, love paved our way. Curtis was a hard-working man, who took care of his family. His skills were multitalented in the steel industry, where he worked faithfully for years at Ceco Building, Weyerhaeuser Paper Company and Airbus Helicopters U.S. Upon his retirement, he continued to offer his skills as a CDL driver, transporting children living in underserved communities to and from their afterschool program and summer ventures at Aldersgate Mission of the Main Street UMC in Hattiesburg, Ms., where he and his wife Linda, worked as a team serving in the community with a variety of organizations, universities, volunteers and churches Family was very important to Curtis. His favorite pass time was playing the bass, or his Axe, he called it. Curtis gently departed his earthly life on March 20, 2025, at the age of 68, Upon his departure of life, he was surrounded by his loving family and his loving wife as he entered the loving arms of Christ, our Savior. Curtis is united in death with his mother and father, Curtis Sr, and Lillie Mae Dixon, his grandparents on both his mother and father side, a nephew, John Brown, a host of uncles, aunts and cousins, as well as a host of sister in-laws and brothers’ in-laws on his wife’, side, classmates, and very close friends. What a beautiful cloud of witnesses, and what a time we will have, when all God’s children get together…what a time! He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Linda, three children, Kitsy Marie, Curby Lynn, (April), and Joshua Isaiah. He leaves 6 grandchildren: Tymerius, Taniya, Loyal, Skylar, Harmony, and Roman, and one great grand, Laila Simone Davis, two sisters, Helen Brown, (Jimmy) Berea, Tennessee, Bernice Dixon, Columbus, a nephew, Greg, (Macal), Southaven, Mississippi, and one niece Christina, of New York; both on the Brown’s side of family. He leaves an enormous host of nephews and nieces, on the Rices’ side of the family, one brother in-law, Leroy Rice (Annie) Macon, Georgia, and three sister- in-laws, Ann Grady, Columbus, Evelena Martin, Egypt, Mississippi, and Mary Helen, Starkville, all on the Rice’s side of family and a host of cousins, classmates, and friends, who all hearts filled with sadness hearing of Curtis departure, but rose with victory and commitment to embrace his life’s celebration.
